Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy

PIntense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL), also commonly referred to as a Photo Facial, is a non-invasive laser procedure that specially formulated to reverse the effects of age spots, sun damage, freckles, birthmarks, varicose veins, rosacea, broken blood vessels, and hyperpigmentation.

IPL Photo Facial for Pigmentation

The laser/IPL device emits a range of light waves that are then tuned and targeted at hemoglobin (the red blood cells in the blood vessels) or melanin (the brown pigment in freckles and age spots). The light beam passes through the skin and is absorbed by either hemoglobin or melanin resulting in damage to the vessel wall or fragmenting of melanin pigment. These tiny vessels and the melanin pigment are then absorbed by the body, rendering them less visible.

How does It work?

IPL treatments are most commonly used for:

1. Lightening and removing “sun spots”, “age spots”, and brown blotches on the face, neck, chest, hands and other areas of the body.

2. Lightening and reducing redness, rosacea, dilated blood vessels and “broken” blood vessels on the face, neck and chest.

3. Helping to control flushing.
It also has a lesser effect of improving skin texture through collagen stimulation and improves pore size minimally by temporarily reducing oiliness.

What is IPL?

Did you know that the IPL is not a laser actually? IPL uses light energy to target a certain colour in your skin. When the skin is heated, your body gets rid of the unwanted cells, and that gets rid of the thing you’re being treated for. Unlike lasers, an IPL device sends out more than one wavelength of pulsating light. It can treat a range of skin conditions at the same time.
